Ok, I feel a bit crazy posting this but anyway....

Have my nct tomorrow, and a bit worried about emissions and possibly failing on it.

Someone just told me to put a piece of blu tac in my exhaust, that it would help.

Any truth to this, should I raid the stationary cupboard in work tomorrow, or is my leg being pulled?

    Thanks!

To be honest with NCT it is an art, last time I done a NCT I was told I had too much oil in car and it failed on emissions, I had just serviced the car fully, was a Passat, brought it back to garage and complained and they found nothing so put it thru again and it passed no problem. Guy in NCT garage in Kells looked perplexed when I told him and told me to report, after months of crap got refunded.

Know that friend of mine had petrol and got rejected, bought some clean up stuff to throw into petrol, went next day and passed. Got it off halfords if that is any help!

Why do you think it will fail? Is it burning oil?

Well, it's my first time going in for a nct, and while the car is running fine, as far as I can tell, I'm just worrying about it too much probably. However, there might be loads of underlying things wrong that I have no idea about.

My sister had a 1.4 the same age which failed on emissions. She got the cleaner stuff, which didn't help it pass.

She ended up having a catalytic converted put on and it still failed. Think she ended up doing retests about 5 times, till she eventually had to get rid of it, as it kept failing on emissions.

I'm just thinking this is something I could do to get it to pass if it is in fact true.

I'm just putting the car in for the test early to find out the minimum that has to be done to get my new cert really. If this works and it helps, then it can't be any harm to do it.

If it's bull, then fair enough...
