    Hey Guys,

I'm trying to buy some cleaning kit from wiggle. When I select Ireland for shipping it seems all liquid cleaners are restricted. Is this because of airmail or something?

Any ways around this? Alternatively, any shops in town that sell cleaner at a decent price?

What would you guys recommend? I was thinking of going for Green Fizz, Oranj Peelz the Pedro's GO! chain lube. Actually, can I not just the regular spray oil from the bike shop on my chain?

    Thanks..

EDIT: Was thinkning of buying this brush set < http://www.wiggle.co.uk/muc-off-5-cleaning-brush-set/ > I suppose it is a little pricey but the last time I tried to clean my bike (cloth) it was a complete pain and didn't do a great job. Have any of you guys used a set like this?

From my last CRC order, which arrived.

    1 Weldtite Citrus Degreaser - 1 Litre
    ID: 105751
    Unit Price: 10.88 EUR

    Here.

As far as brushes are concerned, just get some nylon washing up brushes and baby bottle brushes. The baby bottle brush in particular works brilliantly, though I wouldn't go near a baby bottle with it afterwards.

I tried ordering a litre of fenwicks cleaner and had the same problem.

Just bought my cleaners off them, was gonna get the whole lot but the brushes and cloth (yes, the shame :D) were out of stock..

Gonna hit wiggle for them + bulk tubes.

Re: the brushes, yea kitchen+bottle brushes would probably do the same job but this set looks pretty good.. I'll just have to see how they go..

    Cheers guys..

I order my fenwicks from McConvey cycles. They're up North so postage isn't an issue.(Free p+p)

I have also ordered Fenwicks from McConveys. I think it is normally £10 but I may have got it at £8 with a discount. Make sure you get FS-1, the one you dilute, much better value. CycleSuperStore also stock it for a bit more if you join their discount programme (€13.50/1L)

Yep, but alot of order places can get round this by just writing surface mail on the box and it gets sent by ferry, happens all the time when buying cleaner or polish. Too late for you now but in future someone could try ringing them and asking will they do this for delivery, costs them nothing.

I got a muc-off brush set like that + cleaner from Halfords for about €20 about a year ago.

try this guy, he has fantastic degreasers and polishes that are suited to carbon fiber, and is not really that expensive In small bike size quantities

For those wishing to sort out their degreasing needs for the next decade or more, I would recommend popping in to Radionics and grabbing a 5 litre can of Jizer:

[sorry OP, a bit late for you I see]

This is a top notch industrial product and is pretty good value at €20.89 + VAT. You can get it from the RS trade counter just off Herberton Road, south of the Grand Canal (or from Irish Auto Parts - it’s out of stock in RS at the moment).

I’ve been using it for years and it’s excellent. A little goes a long way and components come out gleaming with minimal effort. It’s water rinsable, so a quick dip in a bucket removes all traces straight away. It’s also safe to use on most plastic, rubber and metal surfaces. To rub it in, I use a 1” wide paintbrush with the bristles cut back to about 1.5”.

For an extra €5, you can get a biodegradable version which is safe for disposal down the jacks. I decant the non-bio stuff into waste engine oil.

-Go to your local garage with a 5 litre jerry can and fill it up with diesel (degreasing)

    -ordinary soap and water (washing)

-tin of pledge (polishing frame afterwards, also good for cleaning bartape, rub in the direction of wrap, DO NOT use on saddle).

All in all, will cost about €8 and last for ages.
