Insinkerator air switch parts?

I have an insinkerator unit which is controlled fron an air switch on the sink. Said switch is simply a button which forced a pulse of air down a hose to a black box power switch under the sink which turns on the power to the unit when the air is detected. The button/air pump part is faulty & the suppliers told me it would cost €80+VAT to replace!

There is nothing wrong with the black box power switch. This must be available as a spare part without buying the entire power switch as well. Anyone know anything about these?

I know of a place that sells another type. the air switch goes directly to the socket and you plug the insinkerator into it. It is basically a (double) adaptor type of unit that is turned on and off by the air switch. So you could run any plugged appliance through it. Not sure of prices though. 01626314

Friend of mine got a similar quote from a local company. (with a long delivery time too)

He ordered it from a UK site cheaper and it arrived a couple of days later.

    Not sure what site though.

    found it

KAL should be able to supply the bellows-switch only, without the electrical components. Less than €17 when I bought a replacement, if I remember correctly.

Thanks for the replies folks, I thought I was in trouble with that unit. Amazing how lazy help in these shops can give somthing a bad name! I had promised myself never to buy this brand again.

I'll try kal in the morning, if that does not work out, Ill try the other link.

The length of guarantee depends on the model you have.
    I have the Insinkerator 65.
It has a four year guarantee. The date of manafacture is printed on the unit.
Simply rang KAL and they put one in the post, free of charge.

Mine is long out of warranty so I took the air switch of the Jacuzzi and swopped them around. The switch was OK only you had to keep it pressed down to work.
