    If you mean UK registered car, then anyone who is UK resident can drive drive it in ROI for a limited period of time.

    You can bring in an english reg car once to Ireland. There is some things you have to adhere to. Like owning for a period of time etc and you dont get charged.

    I couldn't be arsed giving a proper answer either, but yeah it's grand, just keep a tenner in the ashtray in case you might have to pay something .. sorted .....

    In short:
    If you're a southerner you cannot drive a UK reg car.
    If you want to import a UK car you must pay VRT to convert it to a RoI reg car.

    Hi Biko, as mentioned above if you are moving from the UK there should be a list of requirements you can meet so no VRT. A couple of people in work had moved from UK to our offices and where allowed to bring over there car and get Irish reg for free. This is a one time offer and not allowed do again.
