    Hi,

Does anybody know the route for the Tinahely duathlon on the 1st of May? It will be my first duathlon so would like to know what I'm letting myself in for.

Tinahely.ie says its a 3k run, 20k cycle, 3k run. No route posted but I reckon the run would be on the railway way (could be wrong)... A Tinahely Shillelagh out and back would probably be 20k?

Some of the tinahely lads were at our club tri recently but weren't too sure of the route. I'd give them a call or a mail.

Tinahely to Shillelagh would be a tough enough bike me thinks.

They could always to an MTB version and use the Wicklow way. Now that would be tough.:)

    Hi Trinib,

The transition area is at the Railway Walk carpark. The run route is an out and back on the new Tougher Walk extension of the railway walk, its 2.8km long. The surface is all gravel, and is pretty flat throughout.

The bike route is then from the carpark take a right and left into Tinahely village and on to Shilellagh, keeping left for Coollattin and then back in to the Railway carpark. Its 19.9km in total.

We will have full details & maps for the routes on www.tinahelytriclub.com very very soon. If you need anymore details mail us on tinahelytriclub@gmail.com

    Hope to see you there!

Sounds good. I've ran and cycled that before. Its a date clash for me I'm afraid. That day I'll probably be spectating at a mountain race on Mweelrea unless by some miracle I'm fit to run it.

Fair play to you for organizing a local duathlon, best of luck with it!

Is this not a bit tight for an out-and-back race? Very narrow most of the way (being two abreast).

    Hi Guys,

As far as I know the races can be started in 2 phases if the width of the running course is going to be a problem..This will enable the field to be spread out a little before entering the narrow areas. Also for the person that mentioned that the cycle route might be tough I have to say that while there are parts that will test you a bit but overall it;s a relatively easy cycle. Good luck to all and see you there...............
