removing/renewing rotor arm

Is it difficult to remove a rotor arm from a VW Polo mark 3? The arm seems to be firmly attached to the shaft. I needs to replace it with a new one and a new distributor cap.

If the old arm gets broken will it be a problem to fit a new arm? I assume the arm is keyed.
