I'm currently in first year of CA and i'm just not feeling this course. Not due to the difficulty level but due to my lack of interest in programming and understanding of the course when i applied for it. Is it possible to transfer into EC next year internally instead of doing the CAO again? I know i'll have to do first year!. Also is there anyone from ec that can give me an idea of what this course is like?.

I would speak to the program chair in EC.

You might be able to switch into second year EC. Have a chat with the school receptionist. It's upstairs between L125 and L114. She'll be able to point you in the right direction.

That is the best course of action.

As far as I understand it there is now two options:
    1. Pass all exams in CA1 this year and then apply to transfer into EC2 next year
    2. Apply via CAO for EC1 next year... in which case you pay full fees for doing 1st year again

can't see how it would be too hard to get switched into EC2 seeing as CA1 and EC1 share a good few lectures as it is so your going to be right up to date

Just get onto the year heads and class reps and shouldn't be too hard to get switched over...

I know you might think this would be true, but its not true when you examine in detail. There is 60 credits of modules in 1st year and there is only 30 credits in common, so 50% of EC1 is different. This was not the case last year, but this year they are more different than before.

OP, if in doubt ask the programme Board Chair (Rory), but I know what others have been told - thus my earlier post of 2 options is correct.
