    Hi all:

First I was looking for a race where I could fundrace for Japan, and then I thought it would be really awesome if we could organize one where all collected goes there. might be a crazy idea, but would love to know what is possible
    1) it should be soon, next 2 or 3 weeks
    2) no idea how to organize a race, get permissions, etc
    3) it would be awesome if it could be in or close to Dublin, just because I think we would get more people.
I was thinking it could go from Bull island , D3 to Dun Laghoire, this way it would also raise awareness (tho I imagine getting the city councils on board would be hard in a short time, so if anyone knows how to achieve this,it would be awesome)
    4) I don't really know about fundraising either, so I would think just donate everything to the Irish red cross, Japan relief?

Basically what I can do is the website and tell people I know about, but It is a worthy cause , what you think?

I think it would be an enormous amount of work, especially for someone who has never organised a race before, especially with only a few weeks notice.

You'd be better off picking a race in a few weeks time, and building a website/telling all your friends that you're doing this race to raise money for Japan. Put your efforts into raising money, which you know how to do, rather than organizing a race, which you don't know how to do.

well, this is the reason I posted here, to get help from people who did organize stuff like this before
I m sure amongst the readers here, there are organizers and club members, etc that might have some experience on these matters

It's a good idea but not very feasible. I think Raycuns idea is a good one. You could also check and see if there are any running clubs local to you who have an upcoming race and may let you get involved.
If you were to do it 2/3 weeks would be an impossible time frame especially if you wanted a good attendance. Insurance and approaching your county board for a permit and getting course measured are all other factors to be considered.
