Ive a 17 HMR and im looking to buy a .223 Tikka T3 for the foxes, Got a great deal... the 17 HMR is only good below 100 yards and since im out lamping every week.. the stupid ones are all dead!

I bought the 17 HMR only 9 months ago as my first rifle and im worried that the Super wont grant me another licence so soon...

How long do you need to wait in between buying guns? Is there a limit to the amount of Rifles you can have?.. i dont want to sell my 17HMR just yet as its perfect for all other vermin. Would i be better off waiting a bit longer.. dont want to piss off the Super!

As long as you have a valid reason to need the gun there is no reason you will be refused. Also there is no time limit between applications.

You simply apply stating that the .17 is for rabbits/vermin and is not suitable for foxes, therefore you need a .223 for this purpose.

If you have more than 3 unrestricted guns you will need an alarm.

Thanks a million... I take it that a house alarm covers alarm? They hardly want you to put an alarm on your gun safe?

No, not on the safe, although I think that the room where the safe is located is all that is required, check the sticky here regarding security guidelines.

Easiest & cheapest answer is to contact your Crime Prevention Officer and ask him/her IN ADVANCE what he/she will accept for adequate security storage

Did this yesterday and he is calling today(I hope) to give his verdict on whether I will need a full house alarm with 3 shotties and joint custody of a rifle.
I reckon that actually meeting the CPO PERSONNALLY is the way to go !

    Rambo,
Maybe I was just lucky but I just met the CPO personnally(made an appointment) and explained the situation to him.
Actually the gun was actually an "unlicenced firearm" for two years as my Dad had died and left it to a brother who doesn't shoot and he hadn't realised that it hadn't been licenced.
Thought this would have caused a major problem but the CPO was brilliant, just got me to fill form and obviously pushed it through fairly quick.
