Ive booked hotels with them in 2009 and 2010 with no problems whatsoever. I was actually just home from holiday last summer about a fortnight before the bankruptcy news broke. From reading that 600 reply thread, I seem to have dodged a massive bullet!

Anyway, has anyone used them since they got back in business? Im thinking about sorting out a trip soon and since I could never beat them for price before, I'd rather just go with them again provided theres no horror stories.

Like to hear from anyone who has used them in the last month or two.....

Not sure about this one, I know an awful lot of people that got stung. I used Roomex.com this year for the Algarve.

I understand 1800 hotels is now run by Club Travel, Lower Abbey Street, Dublin 1. Most people who had booked with credit cards, when it was owned by Graham Peakin, eventually got their money back, but they were the lucky ones. Many others were seriously left out of pocket.

I generally use www.booking.com (if price similar to other sites) because I am able to cancel, without any penalty, up to about 48 hours before travel. Also, because payment is nearly always at the end of my stay in the property I've chosen.

Incidentally, there is a 10% discount for anyone using www.hotels.com with HCttSPG10 as a code. Book by May 8th, 2011. Travel by January 8th, 2012

Yeah, I guess since theyre now part of club travel and are just trading under the old name they should be fine. I always found them hard to beat price wise.
