    I have a friend who is a foreign national (from Albania) he is married to a foreign national (also from Albania) but they got married here in Ireland....He wants to get a seperation/divorce from her as they cannot get on anymore they have 4 children together. He is in the process of applying for an Irish passport does anyone know if seperating or divorce will affect his application? And also how he goes about getting a seperation? Any advice would be appreciated as i have no answers for him.

    Normal rules apply, to get a divorce separated for 4 of previous 5 years.

    To get a legal separation need 1 year apart.

    Can get divorced in Albania and have it recognised here if either party to marraige domiciled in Albania.

    Whether it affects his residency and naturalization depends to a certain degree on if his residency is dependent on him being married to his spouse

    So does he just leave her then and after a year get a legal separation? They both live in Ireland and they got married here so do they not have 2 get divorced in Ireland? Neither of them are Irish citiziens so im not sure about the passport for him...
