i'm due to get sky installed next week. I have a telephone line but no socket near the tv. Does the sky box have to be connected all the time to the telephone line or just for the initial set up?

No .just for setup, (and if you want to spend money on interactive games )

Unless you are getting a multiroom package, both boxes need to be connected.

What happens if you have multiroom viewing but you don't have a phone line anymore?

Don't tell Sky;) If they contact you or you see a change in your billing price then they have copped you have no phoneline connected for the multiroom.

No need to draw attention to the fact so just keep using the multiroom until such time as they cop on.

I'm still paying for the multiroom but i don't have the phoneline anymore.
Am i losing out on anything by not having the phoneline connected??

No-the phoneline is meant to be connected so as to make sure the multiroom box stays at the address it's meant to.
As I said wait 'til you hear from Sky-if you don't happy days.
