Always used Frags... dunno why. Put Semtex onto my search class the other day and am getting a ridiculous amounts of kills with it.
    - is Semtex just much more powerful?
    - can you cook it like frags? (I know I can check this myself but I'm in work:()
    - what do y'all use?

Edit: Ok forgot about the tomohawk and didn't even realise there were molotovs so I've added them too.

Semtex and Frags do the same damage, but frags have a denser blast radius.
You cannot cook semtex, but they have a shorter fuse.
The main reason I use frags is that even though people can pick them up, they can bounce and roll, giving me more control over them.

    Tomohawk ftw :D

Use the semtex, as I find it good for clearing out rooms, as it will stick to the wall, and not bounce down the corridor. Same goes when throwing it at the bomb site: it'll stick and kill the enemy, and not bounce back.

I do use the frag grenades on some classes, though, as I sometimes need to be able to "bounce" the 'nade around corners.

I use the frag, its better for throwing over buildings. Semtex will explode in mid air.

they do the same amount of damage so its a personal/tactical choice. personally I like using the semtex as I find its a little more forgiving against the lightweight-marathon classes who would have runaway if not for getting stuck :D

I use the frag generally, I'm just not fond of the semtex's shorter fuse. Also I suck with the Tomohawk.

I use semtex, sometimes those frags roll back towards me and I can't run away on time:D

    Don't play blops; but in MW2;
    • Scrotex
    • C4
    • Throwing Knife

    Pure manliness

Frags. Couple of times got revenge kills on campers by bouncing them off door frames and into their corner. Much more control

I voted for molotovs by accident but they arent in blops ?

Frags, far far more controllable once you are used to cooking them and know some good nade spots.

I love semtex though for it's sticking ability, annoys the fcuk out of people when you sneak behind them for it! :D

    Also, molotovs? WTF?

:) Sorry bud. When I was doing up the poll I forgot the tomohawk. So I checked Wiki to ensure I wasn't missing anything else. They have Molotovs listed as a lethal grenade. I was like " I don't remember Molotovs in black ops" but put it in anyway. They're in WOW not Blops.

What would you use anyway....assuming you can't use your favouritive Molotovs? :D

I generally use semtex. I mainly play domination and prefer to be able to just throw the semtex right at the flag knowing it will stick and blow there.

Frags are great fun though and if you get good with cooking times you can get some great kills.

frags for me, it's handy the way it rolls under a car, kaboom, and you get a triple or quad. haven't gotten many kills with semtex in this game.

    homahawk all the way.

semtex shouldn't be in the game, it doesn't exist in real life in grenade form and for the reason it makes it so much more difficult to get Flak Jacket pro. Everyone should have to use frags for there grenades for this reason, there's no point in having 2 different grenades.

loved molotovs in WaW and wish they were back but in blops frags would be for me just purely if i want to launch one over a building it will continue to bounce instead of stick and i have got many kills using this method :D

Any of you frag users over cook one? I have done that once or twice.

Another one is throwing a frag in a window, and just hitting the edge of the window and the frag coming back and killing me.

^^^^ yeah too many times to mention :p

I'd use either frags or semtex depending on the map.

So since snipers don't run around the battlefield no-scoping/quick-scoping guys with ARs/LMGs with their sniper rifle, can I assume we'll never, ever, ever hear you whinge about quick-scoping being nerfed again?

Frags all the way. I like the way you can throw them over buildings or bouncing them into places where someone is camping.

 way to miss the point. It is possible to fire a sniper from the hip, snipers in their current form don't suit this game because in the time it takes to aim in an SMG can kill you from across the map. I'm not even good at sniping but it doesn't change the fact that Treyarch messed up with it and they know it.

Yeah I completely agree. Treyarch really messed the game up for snipers.

    No...of course not...why would I do such a thing? >_>

I have thrown semtex too close and killed myself! Now that is embarrassing!

How do you "cook" a nade?

Hold on to it and let it go when ever. It's like having a variable fuse.

A frag grenade will have around 4 seconds fuse time, and it starts from when you press the button even if you keep holding it. You can't put a frag grenade away like you can semtex, it's cooking.

Throwing after it's cooked for a while lets you try to get airburst kills, or to prevent opponents having the option of throwing the nade back/away from them.

There are few sweeter kills than deliberately getting an airburst kill after you've bounced the nade off a wall or angled surface.
