While I do not have any experience of a Chi Machine I have heard good results from using them. I do however know what a 'Holistic Therapist' is.

'Holistic' meaning 'wholistic'. The holistic therapist is not predominately concerned with the physical ailment but addresses all areas of the person. Mind, body, spirit so to speak. The integral lifestyle is considered and all aspect which may have an unbalancing effect are looked at. The belief that illness is a manifestation of imbalances within our lives and system is core to a holistic therapist. Illness is addressed in layers and quiet often the ailment which initially presents to the therapist is the last to leave the body. A very simple example would be migraine, headaches or psoriasis. Very often these are as a result of stress so rather than the physical condition being addressed the stressors and the way the person reacts to stress is addressed. This then can lead to less headaches or improvement of skin. A very natural and healthy approach to well being.

    Hope that helped.

See here. Sounds like dingo's kidneys if you ask me. It's a fairly harmless seeming exercise machine (perhaps a physio can take a look?). It's makers make claims which aren't backed up with proper studies so this might only be as effective as a Power Bracelet. For what it's worth, you'd probably get all the benefits of a chi machine and more from a trip to your local swimming pool.

I suggest that as soon as you fix the Caps Lock key that you go see a physio. Holistic therapists are about as qualified as a witch-doctor do diagnose back pain. They're much cheaper, of course, but you get what you pay for.

Except for the medical knowledge, presumably.

Absolutely correct. Holistic therapists are not qualified (unless they are also a doctor) to diagnose. A holistic therapist would complement the work of a GP not substitute it.

Think this may all be a little off thread anyway and a different topic.

SHEABA, hope the back pain gets better soon.

I'd advise that you goto a specialist regarding your back pain. The longer you leave it, the more chance of it getting beyond the point of repair.

Your witch doctor may tell you what you want to hear, but it won't fix your problem.
