Looks like Rás UCD is going ahead again this year. Seemed to get pretty good reviews from last year:

Major issue I had with it last year was the fact that they had a lap course which caused a bit of congestion but the course this year seems to be alot better.

Yeah I did this last year. I don't like the lap races, so it's not for me. Having said that though, the atmosphere was great! :)

Course has been changed this year, 2 longer laps, and the walkers will be kept to the paths towards the end of the lap, so there wont be much congestion at all!

I'm not really one for the road races but did this last year and it was good craic.

5k can be my long run for the week.

Ha I'm barely warmed up after 5k, running the full course before I do a 5k sorts me out ha!

Anyways, there will be chip timing at the Rás, and 100euro cash prize for 1st place home, proved by James Nolan who is involved with fastkids.ie, and trains us middle and long distance folk in UCDAC.

This could be well worth for a pop because of the pb potential, it will be a bit strange running it as a UCD alumni though! Chip timing is a huge plus aswell

Last year there was a good mix of people doing it, not just UCD students!!

Really looking forward to this now. Did it last year and to be honest, it probably had the best atmosphere of all races I went in the past year. And the track itself seems to be improved from last year which is great. And chip timing really helps too so that's a great bonus this year.

If any of you are looking for a nice run out this weekend, I really can't recommend this race enough, going on my experience from last year. The set up was perfect, everything from registration, to the goodie bags to getting a decent free t-shirt, even the prizes were quality. Should be a good day out anyway with a decent run.

Really enjoyed this race yesterday! Seems like quite a fast course and the atmosphere was great! The food afterwards was brilliant and it was great to be able to get a massage after the race too!

The only negative for me was when the guy announcing the prizewinners said "and now for the real prizes" just after he'd given out the women's prizes and before he presented the men's prizes!! Bad form!
