can anyone just give me a ballpark figure what a guy with 20 years in the public service would get per annum from the dole / benefits; where he is in full health, is married (single income) and has 3 kids under 10 years old.
    Thanks in advance... :)

About €415.50 and you might also be entitled to rent supplement, medical card, etc.

It depends on the class of prsi op pays as to whether op would be entitled to JSB. If its JSA its means tested and capital and earnings are assessed.

can the OP give us more detail, what class of PRSI? does the souse/partner work? earning how much? is he getting a redundacy payment? how much?.....public service for 20 years spells stamp D to me. if hes being made redundant that means quite a big lump sum, so possibly neither JSB or JSA.
sorry just reread post, spouse/partner not working. need stamp class to go any further

Hi MrsByrne op states one income... trying to find out contribution class I think its D myself as well. Depends on lump sum... if a mortgage to pay off could qualify for JSA but as you say we need more detail.

Thanks folks, I'm not to well up on these things... embarrassing.
Anyway, its class D, single income (spouse not working). I'm not being made redundant or anything but I'm in a bit of a situation and am trying to put a case together.

You wont be entitled to JSB. The following rates apply to job seekers benefit which is means tested... e.g. earnings and capital over 20000

you may also qualify for a medical card. Do you have a mortgage or are you renting. You may also be entitled to Rent Supplement.
