Back-wiper for Yaris?

My back wiper off my Toyota Yaris was snapped off recently:mad:
I had assumed I could just buy one from halfords but they told me I'd need to go the dealer. The motor (arm) still works and to me, it looks like I could easily 'clip' on a new (shop bought) wiper.
Before I go to the dealer, and he charges me for labour also, can I get a wiper anywhere and just clip it on myself? Thanks

    True lol,
But seriously throw up a picture of the arm where the blade attaches and we can tell you if its OK or not.

Well, I would, but I'm in work and the car is at home...

This is what I've found online...the first part of the wiper is still attached and moving when I turn on the switch...

If by "first part" you mean the bit from the spindle of the motor out to the hinge (about 2-3 inches), then you will have to get a new wiper arm from your toyota dealer. Best to get it new if your car is as new as the picture suggests.

Yes, that's what I mean, that first section is still intact and moves back & forward when I turn it on.
so best to go to the dealer as it's a new wiper arm I need? My car's 09 so not AS new as that one in the link, but new enough all the same!

    It's a dealer part.

    I wouldn't think it'll be cheap either!!

Just go directly to parts dept and order it. ONly clicks in so no labour required. Make sure the small stump isn't broken. Probably was nicked, they don't just fall off.

Yeah, I think it was nicked alright - was there one night and gone the next morning:mad: I guessed there'd be no labour as it's pretty obvious (even to me;)) that it just 'clicks' into place.

Any idea on cost...50..100..more??? Roughly even? I just rang the dealer there but got voicemail....thanks again

I don't remember them being especially expensive, €25 or thereabouts. In future you can replace the rubber on its own.

    is it like this:

On my '00 Yaris, the middle section of the rear wiper where it clips together was broken. I just used a soldering iron and a plastic CD case over the weekend and it stays together perfectly now.

That diagram looks different again, they usually have an arm that covers the blade, its joined 3/4 way along the arm, and the other 1/4 is part of the wiper insert.

I'm assuming this piece is what's missing.

i had to get that part for my yaris mk1 a while back.

like colm said, cheap as chip at around 20 quid from toyota, fit it yourself in around 2 minutes with a 10mm spanner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,544 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

You don't even need the spanner on the mk2

    This thread just keeps going!
