I have installed a new DVD writer Samsung SH-S222 but Im getting a error in Device Manager under the SCSI heading
"Adaptec AHA-151X/AHA-152 or AIC-6260/AIC6360 SCSI Host Adapter (non-pnp)" is there a driver for this as Ive googled it and havnt seen. Im not able to burn cds/dvd due to it. Im running Win XP Pro.

It's an IDE drive so SCSI driver is almost certainly a red herring

do you have a scsi card in the computer ? - it will have ribbon cables going to it
if not the uninstall the driver

what cd writer software do you have ?
    if not try this http://cdburnerxp.se/en/home

Thanks guys, there is a SCSI card in it but its only connected to the motherboard as I had a hard drive connected to it but I've removed the hard drive. I'm useing Nero 9 which was working on my old dvd writer.

Can I say when I open My Computer on the Desktop the DVD Drive shows up as DVD-RAM and when a DVD is inserted into it it shows as a CD-Drive

If your copy of Nero 9 came with the old DVD writer / computer then it may be locked to that particular make and model of writer.

So Capt'n Midnight's software might be worth a try.

Is it defo connected via SCSI and not IDE ?

If so then try and use Windohs ( or some other free software ) to burn a disc instead of Nero. If that works then a reinstall or rescan on Nero might be required..

Ive removed the SCSI card and it was never connected by the SCSI just the IDE. But I have found out that there are issues with that type of DVD writer.

I reckon the scsi card is a red herring

are you using the latest firmware ?
    http://www.samsung.com/my/consumer/pc-peripherals-printer/optical-disc-drive/dvd-w-drive/SH-S222A/RSBS/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support

I like to try drives with a CDRW , slightly less chance of getting a coaster since you may be able to erase it again

on the off chance do a malware scan , or if you use a linux live CD after powering down you can rule out windows software

I have updated to the latest firmware today and so far I have burnt one dvd so all seems to be well so far. Just that when I put a DVD into it, it shows up as a CD-Drive is that normal and a DVD-RAM when empty?
