Windscreen washer pump for Vaux Astra...confused...

Hi all,

I am a bit confused as to what part I need exactly. I had a little tip over the xmas and burst the rad, so when I got it fixed, I needed to replace the pump that washes water onto the windscreen.

I am not sure as to what part I should be looking for exactly. I got quoted 60 euro by an opel main dealer. The car is a 05 Vauxhall Astra Estate

Is that price about right? On Micks Garage, they have "water pumps" for €45, but I don;t know if that is what I should be looking for...

That's a pump for cooling the engine, not cleaning your windscreen.
You need something like this:

Does current pump make noise when you operate it?
Before buying anything, take a good look at old pump and make sure you buy the correct replacement.

You can probably swap it yourself if you're handy around cars.
Google it, there's usually tutorials on-line.

That pump is for Astra up to 98.

Is yours new model 05 - I guess it is since model changed 2004.

Is the pump physically broken because of damage or electrically not working ?

If "electrically not working", is the tailgate outside handle working correctly (no I'm not daft, they share the same fuse) ?

everything else is working fine. It's just the pump to get it onto the windscreen is broken...

hi all,

an update on this. still no luck finding a washer pump, even on micks garage.

Turns out one of the contacts is also broken for a bulb in the back reg plate. what would the official name of these be?
