Has anybody tried to upload their Garmin Stats in last 24 hours, I can't seem to upload activities from Sat & Sun and have been trying since yesterday afternoon. It reads the garmin device , and says it is uploading but nothing is actually happening.

Yeah i'd same last night as well.

I hit ctrl - F5 after a while of the uploading and then it worked for me, but site itself was as slow as f**k after so i just left it alone

Me too! I was trying to do it in Firefox & it wouldn't work, but I did it in Internet Explorer eventually. When you go to upload & the page that says your Garmin Device is connected comes up, don't select "upload all new activities" select the other option (I can't remember the exact title, but it's something like "select activites manually") & it worked for me.

It must be a problem with the website if we're all having the same problem so hopefully will be sorted in the next couple of days.

So it's the web site and not just me, I suppose that's good news, thought there was something wrong with my device.
Just tried again , no joy , tired f5, manual etc , I can only assume still problems with site.

I had problems around midday but it's fine now. I reckon it justifies my decision to keep a local set of files even if garmin training centre looks a bit basic. I'm not sure if you can but i think it would be prudent to see if you can extract all your data back from the website

All the data is on your PC in the history folder? I cant rmember the path but i recall you need to have hidden folders viewable. I think they are in tcx format though but all can be opened with notepad/wordpad

Good advice. I use a mac and they are in there somewhere.

On my Garmin they are .fit files, which you can upload to Garmin and then download in .GPx or .Tpx format and save them away somewhere..should Garmin decide to purge all the data from the users dashboard...

I had problems last week where it wouldn't find the device. On any computer so it wasn't a machine issue. After digging around the garmin forums for advice I updated the firmware and logged on through Google Chrome and it worked no probs. I think I read its designed to work on Chrome ? I'm not sure about that..

They are typically still on the Garmin device itself unless you've deliberately or inadvertently deleted them. Under certain circumstances (when battery ran out on my 705 while it was turned on, but also following an upgrade in my case), the older files are no longer visible when browsing through the history on the device itself but they are still visible when mounted as a disk - under MacOSX they all appear as .tcx files in /Volumes/GARMIN/Garmin/History.

They won't actually be copied to your laptop/PC though unless you explicitly copy them yourself. Having said that, it may be that software like Garmin Training Center will store a local copy on your laptop/PC - I don't run that software myself so don't know. In my case I manually copy across the files from the device to my laptop each time I upload a new session. That way I still have the files even if my Garmin gets lost/drowned/whatever. What these files don't contain though is the extra info that you add manually on their website (Activity Name, any notes that you add, etc.), so you lose all of that extra info if you have to fall back on the local copies of the files. I'm not sure if that extra info is exported with the session data when you export from the website - must check that at some stage as it would be a pain to lose that info and for me right now the Garmin website is the only place it is stored.
