Ive always stayed up late and sleep through the mornings.I go through phases for weeks/months were i get up in the morning hit the bed early, but always end up back to my old ways.

If i have work in the morning ill always hit the bed earlier obviously!

Why do some people find this kind of behaviour odd? Why are some people so against staying up late? My GF cant get her head around the fact as why anyone would want to stay up past 2 or 3am.

I've always fallen in and out with being more in tune with the night time. Sometimes it feels like I'll miss out on something if I go to sleep and so my anxious self keeps my heavy eyes from closing. Clearly nothing is gained being awake all night...I never would miss anything had I been sleeping. I'll sometimes try to stay up all night and day and go to bed at a reasonable time to get it all on track but I end up sleeping 12+hours. My body just wants to sleep the day away and be awake at night.

I've always loved the calmness the night brings. There is less noise....frequencies that normally buzz on our skin throughout the day are gone....it feels so soothing to be in the still air. With the world on pause it can seem like I'm the last person in the world. Left alone with never ending thoughts that are soon drowned out by the distant chatter of birds as the sun begins to rise......bed time. *yawn*....

I work all night, and I enjoy the quiet solitude of the night.

Old habits from the days when everyone was a farmer of some description. You had to work your way through every scrap of daylight to make the most of it. Since there was sweet buzz all else to do, night time was solely for sleeping.
Staying awake at night would be seen as unusual and a lot of people see unusual as 'wrong'.

    Great answers.

Of all the nights and hours ive stayed up , ive never given much thought as to 'why' i do it , but after reading your description i think your after decribing it perfectly!

During the day everything revolves around time - work , meals , tv programmes. In the early hours of the morning im free to do as i please without the constraints of having to 'be' somewhere if that makes sense?!

I sometimes go for a short walk around my town at 3 or 4am as i know im not going to meet a single soul, and the quiet night air is so relaxing. The Gardai used to always stop me and ask what i was doing or where i was going- but there used to seeing me walk the streets now!

I agree - I like the quiet of the night. I go through phases with it - staying awake during the night.

When I was younger I suffered from major insomnia (know now it was because of poor blood circulation, I've very cold hands and feet, runs in the family), and I used to lie in bed for hours upon hours, crying and begging myself to fall asleep. Now I just stay awake doing stuffs till I know I'm about to conk out, works well, and my body clock always has me awake around the right time so it's graaaand :P

Though sometimes I do fall asleep in class, and make funny noises, can be a lil' embarrassing :P

I tend to go to sleep fairly early but end up waking up at three A.M. Nothing beats a black coffee and a dvd at such an ungodly hour.:D

Do you go back to sleep a few hours later then again?
