Clutch clip slipping off Ford fiesta 2005

On Friday, while I was changing gear the clutch cable fell off the clip that was holding it in place fell off. Luckily a had a friend who could fix for me but the same thing happened on Saturday. He tied it on with a cable tie so it wouldn't slip when i'm driving home.

The same thing happened to my mothers car, it was the same year and make. She traded it in soon after she got it fixed but saw it recently still going.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything that can fix it permantly because I don't think cable ties are the safest way to go. If i could buy a part and get some one to put it on instead of having to bring it to a garage because money is tight?

I'm sorry of this makes no sense because I dont really know much about fixing a car. Any help is really appreciated.

The clutch slave cylinder plunger is very prone to cracking on the focus/fiesta and slipping off the pedal, a cable tie may hold it in position for a while but the plunger will likely brake at some stage and leave you with no clutch pedal.

Its only made of plastic so they are prone to failing.

i used to work on ford and it was quite a common issue, ford braught out a modified clip to hold the pedal on, only costs pennies and minutes to fit, im sure any ford garage will do it for you with no charge(other than the part), some cars even had a recall on them where the repair was done under warranty, regardless of year
