Connecting a second UPC box

My son recently moved into a new flat and has had UPC installed. In a wardrobe he found a brand new UPC digital box and wonders if he can use this in a bedroom. Will it need a separate card and is it just a question of running a second coaxial cable from the junction box?

He'l need to get new equipment as that box is connected to another account which by the looks of it prob owes a lot of money since the equipment was not returned- €5 per month for a standard box, €8.75 for a recording box.
If the point is in the room and it is a screw in point its free activation online, If its a push in point its an install of €10 online.
If the point is not there then there is an extra once of fee of €50 to run the cable.

    Hope that helps :)

Thanks, box is brand new, R/c, batteries and all, wrapped in cellophane. Looks like it was delivered to the wrong address as UPC was not installed until he installed it.
The point is in another room, it's an F type splitter. I thought he could put connectors either end of a coaxial cable and just run it through the wall. Not that simple?

The box still will not work, once these boxes are switched of they are off I'm afraid! If the point is in the other room then a point will have to be put into that room, unless its a pre-wired place and maybe the cable is behind a blank plate on the wall! I wouldn't say there is though!

Didn't want to start a new thread for my query so here we go, my parents recently upgraded to a digital box with UPC but my auld lad is wondering if he can buy a second box from UPC and run the coaxial into it without incurring further charges such as multiroom or whatever it may be called.

No they wont give you a second box without a multiroom subscription. Its only €5 for multiroom anyway so its hardly worth looking to buy a second box...

They'll still need a second box though ? Assuming they wanna watch different channels at the same time.

Yeah if they want the same service as they have now then they will need a second box.

They might get the 17 analogue channels if they plug the TV straight into the wall socket and see what they can tune in. Its a pretty basic selection but it wont cost extra and might do for a bedroom TV or something.

Those will be lost though when UPC switch off Analogue, they've been years trying to get my mother to switch to digital but she didn't feel the need.

I dont think UPC have any plans to switch off the analogue signal any time soon.
