UPC Wireless network channel problems

    Hi guys,

Appreciate advice here. Moved address last week and brought Cisco wireless UPC modem from the last address (same hardware, same setup).

Wired connection is rock solid. Wireless is a disaster. I can (sometimes) see the wireless network but the connection always timed out when trying to connect.

UPC advised it was a likely a wireless channel issue - I changed the wireless settings to auto and the issue seemed to be resolved.

But now it's fubarred again. No matter what channel I select (or set it to auto) it either can't see the wireless network at all or times out when attempting to connect to it.

Note: this is testing on two separate laptops and two phones.

Any advice on something else to try?

    Cheers,
    Quad

Any wireless devices around? Any chance anyone nearby could be using a video sender? Also download netstumbler and see if there are lots of wireless networks around.

Sounds like interference from a more powerful wireless device (like mentioned above a video sender).

The TV sender I used before knocked out my WiFi.

Try inssider - it will show you a graphical display of nearby wifi broadcasters
