Proseccod out of it

I never heard of the word 'Prosecco' until the past few months. It's apparently an Italian wine. Is there any particular reason why these so-called "deals" from Irish websites (Boards Deals; livingsocial.com; citydeal.ie; pigsback.com ...) all have the same offer of "Prosecco" with hotel accommodation or dinners?

Is it some super cheap kind of wine that the hotels and restaurants of Ireland are trying to offload asap?

There's a large number of people who don't drink wine or even drink alcohol so perhaps the above companies could offer something other than this obviously cheapo Prosecco for people who like other aspects of the deals in question. :p
