Folks, I have a question that I hope the oracles can help with. My grandad is an ex-pat in Hungary and has a Sky box. I am here now and trying to help him get some English speaking channels. I have used this sticky loads at home and downloaded all my channels but his box is letting me put the codes in that are on the FTA Code sticky but it keeps saying 'No signal found'.

Am I doing something wrong or would the codes be different for him as he is in Budapest?

He has all the CBS channels and ITV2 and Sky News but that's it!

Please help a sad older gentleman who is going crazy with Hungary TV :D

Your dish is probably too small. All the decent FTA channels are on Astra 2D and a large dish is needed in Eastern Europe to receive channels from it.

There are 6 beams on 4 satellites for Sky/Freesat at 28.2E/28.5E
Some like astra 2D have most of the free channels and need enormous dish in Hungary.

a ftv card would also help in access to (some) of the wider beam 'free' channels eg different regions of ITV.
you are probably looking at least a 2.0 metre dish for 2D reception in Budapest. have a look at this footprint map...ww.astra2d.com/maps.html
    the Skyman

Thanks all for your help! Bigger dish not an option as he lives on the second floor of an apartment with no roof access but have set him up with way to get BBC I Player so there is some respite :D

    Thanks again all! :)
