Should we have a general strike?

After all, the demonstration held yesterday, March 26th 2011 would have no effect on the cuts of the government according to Vince Cable.
Vince Cable is a British Liberal Democrat politician and is currently the business Secretary.

He quite clearly stated this morning, on the politics show, that the 250,00 + people that demonstrated against the cuts yesterday in London, had wasted their time because the coalition government would not take the views of those people into consideration.

No, a protest (or more protests) maybe - but right away, an all out strike?
    No.
Your economy probably can't afford it.

We just voted in phenomenal numbers for a pro-austerity government. Why the fuck do you imagine the population of this country would strike?

The crux of it, is that he believes anyone in the slightest bit dissatisfied with the governemnt is some sort of weiro liberal pinko commie hippie tree-hugger.

There were a quarter of a million of them in London yesterday. Who'd have thought that a governemnt could be so unpopular?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Population of UK 61 million people
    March numbers = 250,000 people
    % of population on march = 0.38%

    Does not say much.

And na, I apologise, I did not mean to imply all who marched are hippies. I was more taking a shot at typical crusty anarchists who hijacked the march. My bad!

So its a site breaking waves - instead of making them. :D

Being serious, I can't remember the address but I think there is an English version of boards out there somewhere.
I clicked on to it before just for curiosity.

    I think you mean ~0.004%.

So equivalent to about 16000 people taking to the streets of Dublin.

99.62% is still one hell of an approval rating for a Western government!

People responsible for ruinning irelands economy includes:

ff - they were in government and were negligent in their duties. For their in competetence of give away budgets and encouraging a property boom with lax tax and incentives for developers we now see a deficit and a failed banking system. In the bust, they made it worse with a blanket bank guarantee.

bankers - for borrowing and lending wrecklessly.

developers - negligent with doing a business plan to see if such properties were needed and building all around them.

finiancial regulator - negligent in his duties. did not know the situation with the banks.

some people on boards argue the people of ireland which i disagree with because
    - voters are not economists
    - not everyone bought properties.

can someone please explain why are we the only ones paying the price. we see some members ff with fat pensions. some of them belong in jail and are not.

bankers - received bonuses. seanie fitzpatrick not in jail.

Finiancial regulator retired with big pension

    developers bailed out.

The public, whether or not voted ff, bought a home or not, sent the bills.

Why are people happy with this?

A strike to demand a fairer ireland - YES
