Could someone from the DIT Socs Office give some info about starting a new society? I looked on the DIT Socs website but theres no e-mail to contact.

I'm interested in starting a new Transport Society but I've no idea how to go about it.

I'm not from the Socs Office but just out of interest, what would the transport society entail?
Current Irish transport, international transport history, or what?

The general idea is a society for anyone doing transport-related courses to join or anyone who has an interest in transport. It would involve trips out to various companies of different transport sectors, and I think it'd also be a good platform from which to arrange talks on different topics relating to transport where figures from the industry could be invited to share their views which would give an insight to members on various aspects of the sector, as well as providing members themselves with a chance to express their own views on those topics.

Hi Jim I don't work in the socs office but I spend most my time there :P

You need 15 people signed up to start a society but you wont get any funding till next year as far as I know because all the money has been distributed to societies started up earlier in the year. But if you start the soc now and are actually able to do stuff with no funding it'll look good on your request for money next year.

I'll pm you the email address for the office because putting it on a public forum for obvious reasons
