Are there any particularly cheap pieces of equipment that you've used that you were surprised with the quality of? I know generally speaking you get what you pay for but there are always exceptions to these rules. Also i'm not talking about something medium priced that was really good, i'm wondering if there are any dirt cheap pieces of equipment that are actually worthwhile having around, even if for once in a blue moon occasions.

For me a couple pieces of Behringer gear have been my best cheap purchases.

I got this for a couple of hundred euro in the buy and sell. Packed full of features.

The ADA8000 was a 100 euro buy and seller. Works perfectly. The preamps are not noisy unless you need to drive them but I have never needed that myself.

Very impressed with that and the desk.

    Nice idea for a thread.

Off the top of my head:

    H1_card-web.jpg
    Zoom H1. 95 euro new.
Portable recorder. Rubbish build quality. Fantastic sound quality.

    Akai_lpd8t.jpg
    AKAI LPD8. 50 euro new.
Dirt cheap USB midi drum basher. The pads are backlit and respond well.

Speaking of cheap gear, the price of second-hand stuff is very low at the moment. People just can't get rid of gear. Great time to be a buyer on adverts.ie. Not so good to be a seller.
