Complicated Question

    Hello Everyone

So, a few of us run our own site. But there is a problem, we have two different sites. So we were wondering if there is a way, that if, you log in on one site, you will be registered to log in on the other, even though you haven't signed up for the second.

It may sound like a stupid question, but im sure there is a way, just don't know how.

So much appreciated if anyone with website experience can assist us.

    Thanks,
    Raymond

Well you could probably set it up so that both of your sites share the same user database. How are you hosting the sites, are you using something like Wordpress or Drupal?

You should definitely give an option to register to the other site or not.

Because if I get auto registered anywhere without being asked, I will leave both sites.

Due to the fact you appear to be using two different hosting companies you may want to ask their support staff how to go about sharing the users across both sites. I find the problem with the type of hosting services you are using is that you can't do much backend work on your own.

Ok, thanks to the both of you, we will consider both options.

If I was a user I would be somewhat annoyed If I signed up for Site A and found out I was signed up for Site B unless it was very clear and highlighted at the time I signed up for Site A.

Even then I would want the option to not sign up for Site B.

You may also be violating data protection laws by doing this.

When he says "two different sites" he's talking about sharing login information between a content management system and a forum system - quite a common request.

However, I think you'll likely need to host the CMS/forum software yourself to do this, and if you're going to do that you may as well get an all-in-one solution.

And if you're going to get an all in one solution you may as well get a hosted one :)
