Hi I am interested in the Accountancy Technicians Ireland Course Fas are running. It is the first year.

If its a full time day course does that mean its going to be 30 + hours a week? Could anyone describe how many hours were involved?

    Thanks

I wouldnt waste my time on it i did it part time cant see how you would take 2 years full time unless there is a work placement

Thanks for the response Kilburn, i'm hoping that it won't take up that much time. It won't be starting for a long time anyway. Did you find the course challenging or not very challenging? Were you not happy with it?

can i ask you if there is an age limit? for the accounting technician apprenticeship? i am 56 i just finished a fetac level 5 in computerised and manual in bookeeping and payroll, i have no accountancy background , i have however experience as a bar and restaurant manager, at present i work in retail security, i know i seem to have chopped and changed, but i do have a talent for figures and would love to do the accounting technician course. im just wondering if my age and lack of experience go against me in obtaining an apprenticeship? would i honestly be wasting my time?
    thank you kindly

Age won’t come against you. I am doing this course part time. There is every age group doing it. One thing I’ll say is it moves very fast and there is a lot of learning involved.

yes my freinds are saying the same thing to me and that i shouldnt be so obsessed with my age and just do it. yes i believe it is intense but so far ive done the level 5 in computerised bookeeping and payroll. and manual too. i am doing a business administration level 5 course full time at the moment i just signed on for , which covers more bookeeping and IT . so that will help . ive signed on for the accounting technician first year next september so im well my way , and at least i will have a qualification under my belt/ a job would be a bonus lol
best of luck with your studies
