Just wondering if anyone has ideas for a date night that does not involve alcohol?

As we all know nightlife in the city revolves around the pub scene... So how to have a date nite out without the pub in Dublin?

Dinner, cinema, bowling? You can go to things and not drink, like a comedy gig, etc.

As a non-drinker myself, I don't think a non-alcoholic date should be much different to an alcoholic one. There's nothing to stop you from going to a pub and having a 7up and dancing and enjoying it (unless there is a specific reason that I don't know about).

However I don't think that the pub is a good place for a date, drinking or not. You are going there to chat and enjoy each other's company after all - not exactly easy in a crowded, loud pub.

I'd go for dinner myself. Intimate, romantic, relaxing... ticks all the boxes for me. :)

Going to the pub drinking 7up or Beer is still going to the pub, and something a bit more fun than restaurants...though with the possible exception of the Mongolian BBQ!

Was thinking something like the Dublin Ghost Bus tour etc?

Cinema, bowling, pool (not swimming, the one with cues and balls!), comedy night (there are hundreds in Dublin), a walk, a picnic, the zoo, art gallery, a play, going dancing (doesn't have to be a nightclub!)... endless possibilities really!

You could go to one of the proper tea shops in town, such as the Tea Garden, it's quiet, cosy, you can take your shoes off and sit on cushions together trying out different teas. Dinner is a nice idea too. I've never tried it myself but it could be fun to go to a dancing class or something, or do an activity. You said date night, but how about a day-time date? You could have a picnic in the Iveagh Gardens or Merrion Square. The zoo has already been mentioned, and I've got to +1 it. There's a Meerkat restaurant in the zoo where you can get a bite to eat and see the gorgeous little meerkats.

I'd have to recommend staying away from the cinema. The cinema is fine when you want to see something and your gf/bf wants to see it too, but I don't think the cinema counts as an actual date. You chat on the way in and the way home, but unless you go to the pub or Eddie Rockets or something afterwards, you don't really talk or interact, so it's a bit of a cop out imo.

avoid the cinema as there is zero interaction...if you are a guy then just bring her out to dinner...early bird if you are broke...if you are a girl it won't matter much what you do once the guy is into you...this all depends if this is a first date to impress or a 'keep things interesting date' .....
