Courses with hollow tines and sanded greens

    Just thought we could post courses here that are hollow tined and sanded at the moment. I know this is needed some time during the year there is nothing worse than arriving at a course and only finding out at the first green.
    So to start off Athlone Golf Club has theirs done at the mo and also a few mats on tee boxes.

    A lot of inland courses will have them done now because the ground temperatures are up and you have growth which means a quicker recovery. It's one of those things.. you'd like them to be done before the season but such is life. I know the temperatures at the moment are fantastic but we've had frost recently in Kilkenny too so I guess greenkeepers have to be cautious about doing them too early?

    Had our society Presidents Prize in Nenagh last Saturday. Were delighted upon arrival to only be charged €20 green fee. After 3 holes it was clear why. Greens spiked and sanded with little or no consistency. One green would be heavily sanded and all putts would be woefully short. Next green would be lightly sanded and putts blazed by the cup. Very very frustrating but obviously necessary.
