John Shiban, who is currently a writer on Breaking Bad and has worked on The X-Files, Smallville and Supernatural, is currently working with AMC on a new Alien, Sci-Fi series.
Sony Pictures Television has signed a script deal with "Breaking Bad" writer John Shiban on a sci-fi drama tentatively titled "The Voyage."
Project, about the discovery of an alien race that may be interacting with humans, is currently attached to AMC.

Shiban, who worked with "Breaking Bad" showrunner Vince Gilligan on "The X-Files," would exec produce with Lynda Obst. In addition to his work on "Breaking Bad," Shiban has also written for "Supernatural," "The Lone Gunman," "Star Trek: Enterprise" and "Torchwood."

This could be brilliant, going by his track record.

Good on AMC, they're not resting on their laurels, they're taking money made from their fantastic list of great recent shows and just keeping making more. Wish Sky Atlantic started tapping into them too.

Sky Atlantic did obtain the rights to Mad Men, unfortunately they stopped there.

Hopefully it's good and doesn't get cancelled. No love for us sci-fi fans. :(

A Contact type tv series might be interesting, hopefully it won't be slow and get the Rubicon treatment.
