Anyone ever had a go at painting the writing on tyres?
    Along these lines

Saw a guy on another forum do it(but in green ) and wouldn't mind having a go, think it looks nice and stops tyres looking utterly bland.

What writing would you put on them?

I'd imagine a specialist paint would be required and I would say it will wear off over time, probably need to be recoated every 6 months.

I'd be painting over the writing already there (i.e. Bridgestone Potenza RE050a for example)

What writing would you put on them?

Folks just whiten the existing writing, Michelin 225 45 18 etc :)
Some motor factors and accessory shops sell tyre pens to do this, was popularish back in the 80s early 90s, looks utterly sh1t in my view.

yes it can be done on the original writing to brighen the white up..... i would say any good car parts shop would or have the paint, or even halfords.

You see truckers doing this at the truck shows with tipex, it won't last too long I suspect

Might as well do it right if you are doing it :) This stuff will be harder than tipex t get off though, tipex will scratch off except for the proportion of it that is absorbed in, tyres would be slightly porous for this sort of crap. Black tyre paint is also available to eliminate this white crap.

I only suggested tippex as it's instantly reversible(reversable?) if it looks embarrassingly bad :)

Unless you have a 4x4 or some classic American muscle it will look ridiculous IMO

Probably! Worth a (temporary) try though :)

don't think those tyres have been painted, most american tyres come with white writing on one side and black on the other
