Hi I have a jailbroken iphone 3GS and today the "No Service" message is displaying constantly in the top left corner of my screen. I have removed the sim and placed it into another phone and I received full bars of coverage, has anyone any ideas what might be wrong? something to do with the aerial??

It's not the aerial.it's the jb/ unlock. It used to happen my iph4 now and again keep taking out the sim putting it back in or airplane mode on off it will come back it self.

    What jb did you use?

Just to add, A reason given to me when I asked the same question a month or two ago for the same issue is a bad jailbreak, and to maybe try the jailbreak again

I appreciate the replies guys, thanks

I've the phone Jail broken for about 2 months or more, and it's the first time this problem arose.

If i want to go back to the original non JB phone, how do I do it? and then I can JB again. It was a friend did it for me so apologies for what is probably a stupid question!

Will I lose all the apps if I go back to the original way?

I have a similar problem, signal is ok but wi-fi is gone to pot even if I sit next to the modem I only get 1 bar

Just popped the sim back into the iPhone there and it's back working again, didn't do anything so can't figure out why!

The problem came back after about a day, so after checking some things on google I went with doing a full restore through iTunes to un-jailbreak the phone. I was on 4.0.1 but now since the restore and update I am on 4.3.1, and my iPhone is still showing the "No Service" message, I'm really puzzled now!

Ok, I contacted Apple Support today, told them I had tried the various options and they said I would need to get the phone into their technicians, the first lady I spoke to asked if there were any cracks on the phone, which there is near the charging dock at the rear, and which I informed her about, I went for the option of paying approx. €29 for UPS to deliver a new iPhone, and take my malfunctioning one back to Apple for them to look at. She informed me that the crack was no issue as the 3GS is notorious for it cracking without being dropped (Her words not mine!). When she tried to put through the transaction on credit card there was an issue and she asked could I try again in a few hours.

Called back and spoke to a different helper a few hours later and when he saw the note about the crack he immediately started barking down the phone about how there would be a charge regardless to replace the phone of approx. €211. I argued with him that I was told by another person that the crack was not an issue and he maintained it was. I requested to speak with a manager and while on hold I got disconnected.

Called back and spoke to a different helper again! He informed me that the crack was not an issue, and completed the transaction for me. Said that if it turns out when examined that the problem is due to accidental damage or water damage I will not be covered and the out-of-warranty repair/replace fee for the new iPhone would be the above mentioned €211!

So that's where I stand at the moment, I should take delivery of the new iPhone next Tuesday at the latest and the courier takes my old iPhone back to be checked out so fingers crossed....
