Hi Guys, I just thought I'd start this thread for the people who are starting Blackhall Place PPC1 Dublin in September 2011. It could be useful to share thoughts on the upcoming year. Roll on September!:)

So jealous.:o If any of you have any tips on how you secured a training contract please share- I have been looking since January:(. I have given up on this year (weep), but am determined to go next year!!

No idea what the application fee pays for...it's some joke! Now haveta get the course fee together!! :( Yeah the timetable's up on the website, it's confusing because we haven't been assigned to our groups so doesn't tell much re what times you're actually meant to be in!

@Sala-I feel your pain I only got mine a few weeks ago, what I did was just started working in small practice for the summer for free for experience and a few weeks ago spoke with the solicitor about training contract! It's a small firm and solicitor couldn't afford trainee so basically the arrangement is that I'm doing my traineeship with no pay whatsoever!! It's be really tough financially but I'm just eager to finish! My advice would be to continue applying everywhere (just saw LK Shields have advertised for trainees on law society website for next year) and offer to work in the small firms for free to get experience and try for an 'in' that way! Best of luck! :)

Thanks Mary. I actually got a few provisional offers of training without pay but I honestly can't afford it right now. My savings will barely cover the PPC1 fee never mind living for 2+ years. But well done and good luck!

I know, I was thinking about that but it is a bit of a risk, and I'm not very brave!!

Fair enough, if you have other options then the decision will obviously be harder. What i'm saying is you need the traineeship to get in to blackhall whereas if you don't find a paid one in the next few weeks then you'll be waiting another year to go in. Good luck with the search:)

Room For Rent - double room (with own bathroom) available for rent in Rothe Abbey, off South Circular Road for the duration of PPCI Blackhall stint.. A PPCI trainee stayed here last year and she found it very convenient for getting to Blackhall Place and for the exams in the Red Cow. The Suir Road Luas stop is only a five minute walk. You would be sharing the house with me – an easygoing girl in early 30s who works in the legal area. You would have your own off-street parking space. It is equipped with all mod cons- skyTV, dishwasher etc. The double room is spacious with plenty of storage.
Rent is €400 @ month plus bills
