Guday folks. I was wonderin wot everyones opinions are as to what is the best scope mounted foxing lamp to go on a .243. Am lookin for something thats not too heavy and clumsy, is easily put on and removed, has a dimming facility, has a range of at least 250/300 mts and is adjustable from spot to flood to make searchin for basil easier.( i dont want much) :D Anyone any experience of any of these new LED Lamps and battery packs. What is the common lamps everyone is using out there on their scopes. Any info or comments greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance folks. Its a sin to miss em.;)

If you want to be able to shoot him at 250-300 metres then I think you're landed with a Lightforce 170 :) Recently I had a look around for a "torch" that I would be able to shoot a fox at 250 yards with. I found many, many conflicting views on different sites on the same model torches. I erred on the side of caution and stuck with my LF.

most led are very good to a distance and very light also

but as john said lf170 is the dogs my frind has one and its savage for does sort of distances leds would be near as good but just for shot taking maybe 170 on a pitch black nite but you would still need a lamp for seaching

No lambs here until the 30th of the month, fingers crossed, well enough prepared now anyhow, all I need is the weather to hold :D

I'll let the other lads into torches advise ya, as I couldn't honestly stand over anything I've not used myself :)

I've an EagleTac torch, can't remember the exact model name. Be good for shotgun or rimfire out to 125 yards, but that'd be the height of it.

I have the 170 scope mounted and it is the best light on the market(in my opinion) but too bulky it gets caught on every thing & you have the wires. I have the p7 scope mounted now and use the 170 and battery pack when i have a lamp man with me.

You have teh Ultimate set up

I have teh same + an Amber Filter works a treat on LF170, unscrew the head for a wider beam and she is ideal for scanning large fields quickly

Well here's my view on it all. Over the years I have tried all the 'New' must have lamps and torches.

First was the LF 170 scope mounted it was/is/will be the best of the lot.

I have and use 2 torches that are much the same as the highly rated P7.
I got 2 more 500 and 800 lumen zoom torches this week.
I had the Clusion whatever the name runs off a batery pack

The problem I had with the LF 170 when mounted on the scope was it would move left/right when put ont the back seat of the car and then be off target each time for taking the shot.

Now use 2 Ucaller hand held lamps the LF 170 clones one each for driver and me, for scaning and taking the shot if with a second man to lamp and this 'same as P7' torch on the scope.
