Would anyone be able to help? My husband got an old Sony tv ( fwd 42px2 ) from the job he was working on... they had it in their reception playing sky news all the time... we got it home but theres nothing to press to tune the channels into... anyone any ideas??? Also the Sky News logo is kinda still showing at the bottom of the screen... would it cost much to fix or is it not fixable? Cheers for any ideas as we are baffled. Sorry meant to add its a multimedia plasma

    Hi,

From what I can gather the model you got is a multimedia display rather than a standard TV. These would be common in most business/workplaces.

It would be more like a PC monitor than a TV.

From what i gather it doesn't have a TV tuner built in (from looking at the details on the web) so therefore you wouldnt be able to tune in any TV stations like you would on a normal TV.

Your best bet would be to use a Sky/UPC digibox as your tuner or if you have an old VCR you could use that as the tuner to get TV stations.

Regarding the Sky logo still showing. This would be image retention or screen burn. It happens on displays when the same image is displayed continuously for long periods of time.

Depending on the severity of the screen burn it may be hard to shift. But one way of reducing it would be to run an all white screen for a few hours at a time or if you can, run a snowy static screen (like an out of tune TV station with the black/white snowy picture).

    Hope this helps.
