Possible to get a provisional before April 6?

Please can someone help me on this. I need to get a provisional before the new stuff comes in, it would be such a pain, not to mention a lot more expensive. I live in Ennis, but could travel quite far to do the theory test if I could do it before the deadline. Is there anywhere I could do it?

Bribe the guy who does it?

    Make that April 4:

". Learner drivers in posession of a Learner Permit issued in advance of 4 April 2011 will not be subject to the new initial basic training (IBT) requirements. See the RSA's full announcement on http://www.rsa.ie/RSA/Learner-Drivers/Graduated-Driver-Licensing/ "

Well you need to do the theory test first which is all booked up! Usually have to book it well in advance anyway but right now everybodies trying to get in done before the 4th so its extra busy!

So unless theres a cancellation i think a bribe is your only option :o

    Hard luck

1890 606 106 is the number to book over the phone, you could chance calling and asking for any available place before the 6th in case there's a cancellation anywhere but everyone's in the same boat as you rushing to get it done before then :( best of luck, that number is only operated weekdays 8am-6pm

Our Transition Year group was told by an IAM "expert" that we were all subject to the new driver test rules (i.e. the 12 hours of mandatory lessons) as none of us would be 17 before the 4th of April and thus unable to do the full driver test before that date.

He never mentioned anything about getting a learner permit before the 4th! Have to say I'm seriously annoyed right now to know that I could have avoided all the extra hassle but for his advice :/ I suppose I should have done my own research on it rather than being silly enough to trust him.

The IAM expert was correct in telling ye this. You cannot apply for a learner permit for a car until you are 17. If you turn 17 anytime after the 4th of April then the rules are going to apply to you anyway.

It doesnt matter what age you sit your theory test....its all about what date is issued and stamped on your learner permit
