Travelling with a putter?

I am currently in the US, and am tempted to buy a new putter. Does anyone have any experience travelling with a putter, and not having their golf bag?

It won't fit into my case. I am allowed three checked bags on the plane, so I could buy a barrel bag and put it into that. Ideally looking for someone who has done this before, and may have a creative solutions!

    Thanks!

U could get them to box it in the shop and put plenty of bubble wrap around it and the airline will put it in the hold. are u sure it wont fit across the angle of the suit case have got one in before.

Got a few golf clubs the previous years ive been in america, put it in a box off a blind and put plenty of bubblewrap around it, so a box similiar in shape should do the job :)

My suitcase is 33 inches from corner to corner, so possibly with the height it might fit in.

The tube looks like a good option too though. If it doesn't fit in I am sure I will be able to get a box in the shop.

Thanks for the advice. I really want to get a week of putting practice before I get back to Ireland, so that I can hit the ground running!

Wouldnt be overly expensive to post it with fed ex or a similar courier would it?

I've taken the shaft off and just brought home the head previously with both putters and drivers. A new shaft on a putter and grip wont break the bank. Driver shafts are different of course.

Good idea, but I am planning on going from the airport almost directly to the course. I have been in San Francisco for over two months and haven't managed to play any golf.

My flight lands at 9am and I will be disappointed if I dont get at least 18 holes in that day!!!

Fed-Ex etc do "club boxes" that you can just buy and then bring it home yourself in the plane.
