Sony Bravia loses connection to UPC HD box

Hi, I have a Sony Bravia 40 inch HDTV and recently upgraded to UPC HD box. Got the engineer to hook it up initially and all was working fine. However, about a week later I turned on the tv and nothing came up. The television stopped receiving the UPC box. I went through the input menu and saw that the HDMI link was there all right but when I selected it nothing came up. I also have a blue ray dvd player hooked up with HDMi cable and it finds that no issue.I switched over to scart to get the TV working. Then after a few days, I plugged the HDMI into the back of the TV and presto UPC was back, only to disappear again a week later. The only thing I am doing is turning the TV off from the remote, nothing else. Then when I turn the TV back on from the remote it loses UPC. I have had the box replaced already, I have had a Sony engineer out to have a look at the TV and he gave me a better insulated HDMI cable, but to no avail, the TV lost UPC again yesterday. Can anyone help? Thanks

Have same set up here and had that problem once or twice. Just turned both off and on and it worked ok. No problem with TV though, I've been using it 18 months hassle free with other providers HD box.

I think its the UPC box. When you press TV on the UPC remote the TV goes black, I think it's not activating/coming back on sometimes.

I've found the quickest way to resolve this is unplug & reinsert the HDMI cable. It's a UPC box issue & very annoying as it happens on my Samsung LCD also!

I have a Sony Bravia/HD box too and I used to have the same problem. Found it was caused by pressing the TV button on the remote. Took care not to touch it and subsequently - no issues!
    Could be that simple.

    Seems like a Sony issue.

Just wondering if this could be a related issue to a much lesser degree.
I have a Samsung and have UPC bundle about 2 mth now. Im pretty sure before when i switched on the upc box tv came up quickly enough which is about the same time the tv takes to power up(approx 10 seconds).
But recently im waiting with the blue screen about 30-40 seconds for the box to start to show the tv station?.
Anyone experiencing a similar slow upc box startup.
I will try the Hylus83 advise listed above for a starter.

I occasionally have this problem with an LG TV and the Digital+HD box too. My money would be on UPC's box being the culprit.

I agree. I have the same issue and when I unplug the UPC box and restart it the issue is gone. Sometimes just switching between HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 a couple of times also works.

Yeah the switching works for me too, but means I've to go digging around for the TV remote.

Just FYI, this sounds like a problem that was discussed some time ago in this topic.

I've never been able to sort the problem out with my Sony Bravia. The only thing that stops it happening is to turn on the UPC box first and then turn on the TV with the TV remote only. Turning on the TV with the UPC remote doesn't seem to sort out this problem for whatever reason.

Trying to explain this to my parents who had the same problem nearly drove me to distraction. Dad kept turning on the wrong thing first and then, after pressing every button on the remotes, he was >this< close to hoppin' them off the wall. I ended up putting a sticker on the bottom of the handsets with "1" on UPC and "2" on the Sony and I blacked out the TV button on the UPC remote with permanent marker.
