On the Late Late show last week, Jim Sheridan said he had worked on a project with Saoirse Ronan, and the English actor Sam Riley + a gang of young actors. He wasn't very clear on what the project was.

    Anyone know anything??

Wasn't Saoirse Ronan in 'In America' (which Jim Sheridan directed)?

 After which of his award winning films was he found out?

I wouldn't think of him as a director that stands out, but a hack? A bit strong, isn't it?

He's made some high calibur films and My Left Foot remains one of the best character studies committed to film. Almost any director would be happy to have his resume, honestly.

No they wouldn't, he's a TV director who got lucky. He got found out after The Boxer and it's been downhill ever since. "We have stoies to tell" he shouts and then he makes a 50 Cent movie? If you want to see how much of a hack he is then watch Brødre, the original version of Brothers.

If all it takes is for one bad movie and a director is a hack, then there is nothing but hacks in this world.

Name me a single director who hasn't made a bad movie.

Well he is the exception which proves the rule, to use a cliche...

To be honest, Insomnia... not a great movie in my view, but I'm not sure if that was Mr Nolan or if it was my predisposition to dislike anything Robin Williams is in.
