Where America isnt alone in saving the world?

Ill even take films where America is at least aided by more then a token foreigner ala armageddon, its just infuriating to see 6+ billion people being shown as a complete waste of time and space but America is jampacked with useful, capable individuals.

...maybe i just hate Michael Bay

This is what happens when you watch primarily American-made films, no?

Ha, the OP reminds me of my first night living in halls at uni. Bunch of sitting around talking, watching TV and Armageddon comes on. Creepy German guy who had been deathly quiet all night suddenly pipes up with hatred in his voice "Oh look, America saves zee world, how lucky are we! Where are zee Germans or zee Japanese? Only America can save us."

Room went a bit quiet after that tbh.

Ah yeh i know. Im not saying an American made movie shouldnt show Americans as the heroes, im not begrudging them that, i just think a little more geographic diversity would not only make more sense but it would be realistic too.

lol, i can picture this perfectly. I unlike this irate German know when to keep my mouth shut.

First question - which other country makes disaster movies? There are probably a few non English language flicks lurking from Japan, USSR.

how many times has James Bond saved the world?
    and he's Scottish

    Edit, Disaster...

James Bond is NOT Scottish even when played by a Scot.

In The Day After Tomorrow the US president makes a speech about how nations they had previously considered third world are giving sanctuary to US immigrants.

As far as I can tell all of the recent major Hollywood disaster movies have bent over backwards to included a token Russian, Asian, Indian etc... Sure they are usually horrible clichés, sometimes only there for comic relief, or overly earnest hero types who's deaths will pull at your heartstrings but they are there.

All I know is if there is an invading alien fleet heading towards earth anytime soon I'll be mostly looking across the pond for help.

Excellent example. And it isn't a coincidence that Sunshine wasn't only funded in the US so could have a more 'worldwide' outlook.

Godzilla in general really, barring that one crappy one we don't talk about. With monster movies in general, the Asians tend to kick some anti-apocalyptic ass, as they do in much anime.

Is it a good example though? At least three of the cast were made use american accents.

James Bond is British - AFAIC - and is therefore allowed to be Scottish.

And on the original topic - nope! Can't think of one really - Day after Tomorrow does include China and India in a way that really suits though (I think).

Inevitable since most of the money was still coming from the states and would have to make up most of its money in that market. Could have done with more Asian's/Indian's but it certainly isn't America going it alone. There probably would be no qualified Irish people and Cillian Murphy would make a terrible Indian.

Day the Earth Caught Fire was caused by USSR and USA letting off nukes that tilt the earths axis but the attempt to re-tilt it is left open, ditto Virus - no happy ending there either I think. Juggarnaut was clearly the potential end of a boat, not the world. Great film, hasn't been shown for donkeys years.

Ah yes, very good example, bit the diversity i was looking for in that one. Shame about the end though.

As for the parallel James Bond discussion, he, as a character is half Scottish at least.

Thread reminded of a bit from Independence Day.
EXT. DRY LAKE - SECONDS LATER

As they step out of the tent we SEE more than a HUNDRED
FIGHTERS PLANES from different nations parked around them.
They've all gone into hiding out here in the desert, divided
    into many smaller camps.

Reginald and Thomson follow their Arab cohort, walking through
the many other campsites. Thomson gets some stares from the
    IRAQI PILOTS.

    REGINALD
    I still get believe this.

    THOMSON
    The Iraqis don't appear altogether
    too pleased with this arrangement.

    REGINALD
How do you think the Israelis
    feel?

Sure enough a campsite of ISRAELI PILOTS sits very near by.

ANGLE - ARABIAN AIR FORCE CAMP

Dozens of Arab pilots are gathered around a large radio as the
Morse code comes through. Thomson quickly kneels down, taking
    notes.

    THOMSON
    It's from the Americans. They
    want to organize a counter
    offensive.

    REGINALD
It's about bloody time. What do
    they plan to do?

EXT. ICE PLATEAU - SIBERIA - DAY

Several Russian Pilots are gathered around a radio, their
dozen MIG FIGHTERS standing behind them.

    RUSSIAN #1
    (subtitled)
They claims to be able to bring
    down their shields.

    RUSSIAN #2
When do they want to attack?

EXT. VOLCANO BASE - FUJI - DAY

At the base of a large Volcano in Fuji, several Japanese
attack helicopters stand near their pilots, gathered around a
    radio.

    JAPANESE PILOT
    (subtitled)
    The attack begins in thirteen
    hours.

As if, in the event of aliens attempting to take over the planet, everyone waits for America to save them...

It's out on DVD under a different title called Terror on the Britannic.

What an awful title! Sounds like one of those low budget TV movie cash-ins that were popular time fillers in the late 70s/early 80s. Staring James Franciscus, Red Buttons, Raquel Welch, Noah Beery Jr and William Conrad.

Whatever about the point raised over accents above, that's an interesting example because three of the crew are Asian and one's a Mauri. How often do you see a big-budget Hollywood movie where the majority of the main characters weren't white? The pandering Slumdog Millionaire (and that's also Boyle!) and stuff outright aimed at "the urban market" like Shaft or Big Momma's House aside, I'm struggling to think of any.

I see the point you're making, but in fairness, at that point in Independence Day, everything even remotely conventional - plus nukes - had been tried and failed. I'm not sure exactly what you expect fighter pilots to be doing about that. At least the foreigners took part in the actual take down of the aliens. (Anyone who calls spoilers: it's a Roland Emmerich movie FFS.)
