Another chocolate bargain to tempt those who are off chocolate for lent ::)

Spotted Merci Finest Chocolates 250gm in Tesco today for €1.
    These are reduced from €4.99

Checked online with Tesco and they are also available there.

The best before date on the ones I bought was 1st October 2011.

Probably only worth €1 in the first place! Another one of those big-empty-box of chocolates.

    It is what it's.

250g for €1 - that can't be bad especially when your normal 65g bar of choc is 99c in many places!

No, they are actually very densely packed. The box is completely full of chocolate: http://www.flickr.com/photos/like_the_grand_canyon/3904783912/

How many layers is that? I guess the part that bugs me is the useless expense of the wrapping in which case I apologise for my bias!

    It is what it's.

Yeah agreed, €1 is a mega bargain for these top of the range chocs, I've seen them for €2.50 in Aldi and Lidl and in Duty Free shops for even more. By the way, I think the packaging is exquisite, perfect for serving with coffees if you're entertaining.

I just got 4 of mine delivered and they expired week ago.

    3 were expired on 1 March 2011
    1 was expired on 28 February 2011

And it was not the only expired things in my shop.

So if you buy them make sure you check the best before date before paying or accepting delivery.

I found them manky. I much prefer tesco finest 39% cocoa or caramelised almond one. approx 1.50eur for 100grams but lot cheaper than black and gold stuff and as nice. Maybe boards deals could get a chocolate deal from leonidas , they are gorgeous.

Got three today with October 11 expiry dates. Good bargain alert.

My current favourite is Aldi's Choceur Fruit and Nut bar, they're gorgeous and so reasonably priced at €1.39 for a big 200g bar. The hazelnuts in this are roasted to within an inch of their lives, they're so crunchy. There's lovely big juicy raisins as well.

Can't find any Merci chocs in Jervis St, Prussia St or Roselawn (Dublin).

What stores have you found them in ?

You've probably already spent the €3.99 saving on travel and time looking for them :D
