Well it seems to have, i'm no tech nerd. It won't register that there's a game or dvd in there. Who fixes these? Can't justify spending 300 or whatever it is on a new one. Mine's an old "big" one by the way.

There are several places around that will fix this for you for about €90-110. I just got mine fixed last week.
If you say where you are, i.e. southside Dublin 24, I'm sure someone on here would be able to enlighten you as to where would fix them.

    How old is it?

Fixed my own 40 gig one a few weeks back for around €55 , bought the new laser on ebay and just watched the vids on youtube to learn how to do it.

Not hard to do it yourself but if your not handy or don't have the tools already around the house then your better off getting someone else to do it.

Plus theres a high chance of getting a cheap knock off replacement part, which don't last very long. There's no way to tell on ebay, as the sellers mostly use generic pictures.

Yeah stay off ebay, or will be burnt ;)

There are website's that supply parts it will cost you more.

I buy brand new lasers from a large international wholesale company, I pay more but I know the parts will last.

I ordered 5 on eBay 400a lasers from a seller in England a while back, because my normal supplier had no stock. The 5 cost me 209 pounds, they were shipped for China and not one worked!!!

I know lots of people who buy refurbished ones, and more often than not only 7 out of 10 work.

I understand the risk with buying from ebay alright and the laser that I bought did come from china but works perfectly, it looked and felt the same as the laser I was replacing.

Time will tell how long it will last but that is always a risk .

@Consolepros : was having a look again at the feedback from the seller that I bought from and noticed the sale of a KES-410A on 17-03-11 to a buyer consolepros.ie, not you buy any chance and if so what did you make of the replacment part.

That seller seems ok, and they are local so you should not have any issue.

In co. limerick, sorry it took a while to reply i don't normally use the games section.

the ps3 is old i've had it since a few months after they were out first.
Electrical stuff is really not something i know how to fix, i don't get on very well with electrics or delicate stuff so i'm definitely going to have to get someone else to do it.

If it was something i could weld or beat into submission with a hammer i'd give it a go but electrical repair is not my thing.

Really can't buy a new one at the moment or for the forseeable future so i need to find out somwhere or someone that can reliably fix it
