anyone know of any instrument/pa cable bags/cases that are out there. I'm looking for something that will hold all my leads and cables but keep the likes of instrument cables together but separated from the likes of speakons etc....

I usually just grab a holdall that has a few pockets rather than paying ridiculous prices for 'cable bags'

Use a plastic bag, they're grand.

if you really want a bag then go for a cymbal bag, you can get them with a load of pockets and they don't take up much space... but this is all a waste! just use whatever you have to hand and be organised! that's the end to it!

Wel I have been using something on the lines of a gear bag at the moment and its fairly full so I want something that can hold these and have them separated in terms of their use, its enough work to go setting up for a gig without spending half that set up time sorting out which leads are dug deep underneath the rest, plus i'll probably be getting even more leads in the future which ain't gonna make things easier. Just wanna be organised is all :D

And no, a plastic bag won't do the job i'm afraid :P

I agree that this would not suffice for gigs.

There are lots of bag shops dotted around Dublin city ( not sure of your location) that would probably have what you want. They would be a lot cheaper than gig bags too.

Greatest invention ever for cables. 2 per cable, they'll never get tangled again. Just throw them into a rucksack after that

Ya thats a good point rigsby, have only been looking online so wouldnt do any harm to have a look in a few shops round galway and limerick and sure if i'm up in Dublin any time soon I can have a look there too.

And thanks for that too Feylya, I plan on getting a bunch of those too but also want to have the leads separated in to different compartments too, just me being a neat freak is all but no harm have them all sorted just for each of setting up. Just saves time and also makes it easier to check have I collected everything after the gig too rather than having them thrown in to one compartment.

I had presumed that bags like this would have been easy to find but it seems to be proving difficult to find exactly what I had in mind.

Leads will last longer too, if stored neatly. ;)

Ya keeping my leads organised is one thing, keeping them working is another :) any more suggestions are welcome by the way :D

now IM only guessing that you are dealing with full set of cables for pa and the like I go for plastic containers that you can stack just use a hand truck to bring them all in power/ speakon in one, xlr, jack etc. plus the truck is handy for all sorts

Thanks Reniwren for the suggestion, I would rather have everything in a bag simply because its easier to pack, if i decided to use a case system then i'd make up one myself but when space is limited already i'd rather use bags. They seem to pack that bit better :) I've been in bands where cases were used too and they were always convenient but find them bulky. Maybe if i bought a bag large and strong enough with a wheel system, anyone know where i could get it tailored to have different openings for different cables?

    I am being awkward aren't I :P
