    Hey guys, Quick question.

My partner lost his job 14 months ago. We have a joint mortgage but at the time we got it i was unemployed so he took out 100% Payment Protection Policy.

We have used the 12 months of that up (finished in Jan 2011)
Applied to CWO for mortgage interest supplement. Also sent in letter from PPP crowd to say that it was finished.

Recieved a letter from her asking for when the start date of PPP was. Sent them in and received a letter yesterday stating he is not entitled to the mortgage interest supplement as he has PPP.

In order to be eligible to claim the PPP again, my partner would have to work another 12 months. But he is not working. He is on JSA and i am receiving Maternity Benefit..

    Is this correct?

    Hi

According to the SWA guidelines you would not be elgible to receive the Mortgage Interest Supplement while you are recevining payment from the PPP. But when that finished, as you where no longer receving help fromthe PPP there should be no problems as long as you still fall under there other qualifying conditions to receive MIS. If I where you i would get back onto the CWO as there seems to me a misunderstanding of some sort in regards to the PPP..

The Irish National Organistion of the Unemployed can tell you if there is a guideline for what you mentioned above as they have SW Information Officers. Their number is: 018560088.

Thank you very much for the reply..

Yes i will get him to go back to her as she seems to think we are still covered by the PPP.
    Thanks again :)

    Hi OP,

Hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread. I have just started 12 months payment protection, it is full cover for 12 months, but am wondering if anyone knows what will happen next March if I am not working?

I am currently looking for a tenant, am plan to save any money I get, but the rent will only cover a third of my mortgage come March next year.

Anyone know how much mortgage supplement I can get. My plan is to save as much as possible this year, but next year I am not going to be able to afford to pay my mortgage with the money from a tenant and social welfare.

Here's hoping it doesn't come to that, but good to know what I can expect, if anything. How is it calculated?

I am on JSB since December 2010.

    Thanks

Calculating Mortgage Interest Supplement is very complex

    It sure is.

    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/calculating_mortgage_interest_supplement.html

Is this similar to talking to bank and getting them to decrease payments for set period, ie: no interest, only paying off loan? Or is one better than the other?
