Which is the best way to install a software on an old Windows 2000 server which need to be accessed by members of domain and well as WorkGroup computers (windows xp pro). They all are connected via a LAN. At the moment there is a NW printer installed on the server which could be accessed from the workgroup computers as well. So this computers are communicating with the printer through the server without any problem.

So could I install the software on the server and insted of the server name use its ip address on the workgroup computers to access the application which is a web based one?

If the application is web based then you just need to 'Host' it on the server and the machines in the same work group/domain can access it.

You would need to ensure that your firewall blocks any attempt to access it from outside of the work group/domain.
