    Hi guys,

I'm hoping you can help me out here.

I'm currently working in an IT support role and have been for the last 5 years. I kind of fell into IT due to a shortage of staff in my last job and so never really planned a career in IT prior to that.

What I'd like some help with is where I should go from here. I've been doing level 1/2 support for the last 5 years but I don't hold any qualifications as yet. I'm thinking that networking (CCNA etc) may be the way forward but it doesn't exactly excite me.

I do enjoy web design and languages but I'm worried that a shift in this regard would render my IT support experience useless and I would prefer to utilise it in some way.

Can anyone throw some ideas my way...?

    Thanks

Remember, they are known as MCTS certifications now.

Never underestimate the value of general IT support when starting off on an IT career. It gives you a taste of different areas, allowing you to pick the more appealing. It also gives you and idea of what the end users see.

I wouldnt do CCNA because it seems to be the right thing to do, I would do what interests you. You will enjoy it more and be better at it.
